Chapter 8
Immediately I rented a condo. We finally had our own dwelling in Randolph under Lea’s name. I couldn’t be too far out of the hood because I had to be able to get there and then able to pop right back home when needed. I purchased an old Beamer just to switch shit up because I was sure them niggas knew what I drove.
Since Lea never used the money I gave her to redecorate our old spot, I had told her to just bank it. But now that we were in our new crib, I figured this was something we could do as a family because I really didn’t see my little sister much unless it was about business. Her ass was too busy sneaking off to be with that nigga Donte thinking I didn’t know.
I hired some Mexicans to move our shit. All we took were our clothes and pop’s old TV. Everything else we could do without, well that’s what Lea kept saying. The longer we held on to all the memories, the harder it was for us to move on. She was happy about our new spot. We lived amongst white people and no one knew us in our area. I just wanted my sister to feel safe and to continue making enough money to move out of Boston altogether. I switched up my car and purchased another modest whip, a black 2001 Acura. I didn’t want nothing too stupid to get our white neighbors curious to pry into our business.
It didn’t take long for us to hook up the new spot. Everything was in it’s proper place and all of the furniture and fixtures that Lea picked out accommodated the space graciously.
“We did good bro.” Lea admired the plush white couches and marble coffee table. “There’s just one more thing to make our house a home.” She reached into her large Celine bag and took out a picture of pops and placed it in the center of the coffee table. “Now this is home.” I kissed my sister on the cheek and then answered my ringing phone.
“Yo. What up?”
“Hey Papi, you all moved into your new spot?” Nicky asked.
“Yeah man, finally. A nigga is tired.”
“Aww. Well do you feel like grabbing some lunch? My treat. I’m taking a late lunch in about an hour, I’d love to see you.”
I glanced at all the missed calls on my trap phone and decided to answer them later. I made sure Lea didn’t need me to move any more furniture and I headed out to meet Nicky. Seeing her was always like a breath of fresh air and a nigga needed some air.
I parked in front of Nicky’s job and texted her when I was outside. I had on my Ray Ban Aviator lenses while I was laid back in my seat with some trap music turned all the way up. When I saw Nicky walking out of the building, I sat up in my seat to get a full glimpse.
